Totally Modern!!!
This autumn, Moderna Museet Stockholm, Sweden, will present an overview of the beginnings of modern art. The three exhibitions Turner, Monet, Twombly: Later Paintings; Another Story; and De ou par Marcel Duchamp pae Ulf Linde offer a unique opportunity to experience the way that painting, photography, and ideas converge to form Modernism in a collaboration between eye, hand, machine, and brain.
The exhibitions are supported by a busy program of events, which will be launched with three lectures about J.M.W. Turner, Claude Monet, and Cy Twombly. These will be complimented by a symposium on the concept of Late Style, a programme of films and conversation on Marcel Duchamp. The high points of Modernism will be encapsulated in lectures on key concepts in the history of aesthetics. The autumn’s activities will conclude with a symposium on the relationship between painting and photography.

Eva Funck Hosts Open Day @ Bonnier Art Gallery
STOCKHOLM CENTRAL has been enjoying an exceptional Indian summer in recent weeks. Yesterday, was a extremely beautiful Autumns day! Stockholmers across the city took every chance to soak up the sunshine as the heavens opened up to an Yves Kline clear blue sky. One can quickly notice the phenomenal effect on the happiness and well being of people in the street as it erases their thoughts of a predicted very cold and lengthy winter season. However, its on days like these that I love to head into the city and enjoy the atmosphere with my family. Yesterday, was a real blast as we attended a fabulous children’s art lecture at Bonnier Art Gallery. Hosted by Eva Funck the award-winning children’s show host at SVT who has an eye for contemporary art, the exhibition the the spiral and the square will be hosted eight times during the fall season!!! Urban Lyrics Presents Retrospective of Photographer Helen Levitt @ Fotografiska
I have a very special place in my heart and mind for New York City. I spent several years of my life living and working there during the late 80′s and early 90′s. New York City simply offers endless opportunity in a challenging environment to develop your photographic talents. So, it is with grate anticipation I await the opening reception this Thursday by American Street Photographer Helen Levitt at Fotografiska in Stockholm, Sweden. Urban Lyrics presents an extensive photographic retrospective of Helen Levitt‘s oeuvre. Helen Levitt is one of the 20th century’s foremost photographers and a pioneer of the “street photography” movement. She was a true old school master and her techniques have produced some of the most incredible and memorable vintage prints to be seen of New York City Street photography during that period. Her imagery rapidly captures your soul and opens it right up to reveal a new and invigorating visual experience!!! Urban Lyrics is curated by Jorge Ribalta in conjunction with HAC friend and Fotografiska curator Maria Patomella. Continue reading
